4730 Tensioned Wire Extensometer

Anchor assembly

The model 4730 is similar in construction to a wire extensometer except that the wires are kept in constant tension. It consists of corrugated collapsible-tubing connecting spring-actuated anchors, which mechanically anchor to the soil profile. The assembly is prefabricated and delivered ready for installation. The 4015 head frame (with spring loaded sensors) is connected to the anchors by stainless steel high tensile wire and records settlement between anchors. The 4730 is a good alternative to hydraulic and pneumatic settlement cells, and can be remotely read using a data logger or a 9600-02 hand held readout unit. Range 1m. Resolution 0.1mm.

4750 Magnetic Extensometer Inclinometer System

The model 4750 combines the features of magnetic extensometers in an inclinometer casing to allow measurement of both verticality and settlement. The magnetic targets are fixed in collapsible tubing placed around the inclinometer casing. Use models 9200 and 7000 readouts to monitor this system.

4775 Automatic Magnetic Extensometer Controller

This system was developed to automatically monitor remote magnetic extensometers. Once installed, the 4775 can scan up to eight magnetic targets and store the data. It can also monitor up to eight vibrating wire sensors at the same site. The unit is designed for stand-alone operation and is waterproof to IP68. Use a laptop computer to program the controller and retrieve data from it.

The transducer features automatic temperature compensation and (by using vented tubing) automatic barometric compensation, which eliminates all the problems of earlier model settlement cells.
